Atlas Labs is looking for an Embedded Engineer to become a part of our innovative technology team. In this role, you’ll work on the design and development of real-world hardware products, focusing on embedded systems, wireless protocols, and low-power applications. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to projects from early prototyping through to product development.

We’re looking for engineers who are hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Your technical skills, problem-solving ability, and commitment to quality will be important as you work with the team to develop reliable and innovative embedded solutions.

Your Role

  • Design, develop, and deliver embedded systems for connected hardware and AI-enabled products from prototype through production.
  • Define and implement embedded system architectures, including processors, microcontrollers, sensors, communication interfaces, power systems, and peripheral devices.
  • Design electronic schematics and contribute to PCB design, layout, bring-up, validation, and hardware revisions.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize embedded software and firmware for microcontroller, processor, Linux, and RTOS-based systems.
  • Integrate AI and machine-learning capabilities into embedded and edge devices, including supporting model deployment, inference, data capture, and communication with AI services.
  • Work closely with AI and computer-vision teams to ensure hardware, firmware, cameras, sensors, and data pipelines reliably support model execution and intelligent product features.
  • Develop and optimize device-level interfaces between embedded hardware, backend services, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and application platforms.
  • Integrate and troubleshoot connectivity technologies including Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular, and other wired and wireless communication protocols.
  • Build functional prototypes and conduct system-level testing, validation, debugging, and performance evaluation across hardware and software.
  • Drive hardware bring-up and production validation, ensuring manufactured devices meet engineering specifications, functional requirements, and quality standards.
  • Develop production testing, device provisioning, diagnostics, firmware deployment, and validation processes to support reliable manufacturing at scale.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, firmware, connectivity, AI-integration, and field issues using systematic testing, logging, and debugging.
  • Develop engineering tools, scripts, and automation to improve testing, device configuration, monitoring, diagnostics, and development efficiency.
  • Evaluate components, hardware revisions, and design changes to improve reliability, manufacturability, performance, scalability, and cost.
  • Collaborate with software, AI, mechanical, product, manufacturing, suppliers, and external engineering partners throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Maintain technical documentation covering system architecture, hardware designs, firmware, interfaces, test procedures, production processes, and engineering changes.
  • Contribute to technical planning, design reviews, engineering decisions, and continuous improvement of Atlas Labs’ embedded development and production processes.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience developing embedded hardware and software solutions.
  • Experience in schematic design and PCB development.
  • Proficiency in C and C++ programming for embedded systems, including ARM-based platforms and microcontrollers.
  • Understanding of mixed-signal circuit design and system integration.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML technologies and embedded AI applications is a plus.
  • Good understanding of software design patterns and version control using Git.
  • Experience with KiCAD 6 or similar design tools is a plus.
  • Experience designing, testing, and debugging PCBs using tools such as oscilloscopes and other electronic test equipment.
  • Good understanding of wireless communication protocols, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular technologies.
  • Experience with RTOS environments is a plus.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and meet project deadlines.
