Job Description: About the Role:

KPMG is looking for an experienced Manager / Associate Director – Financial Services Consulting with strong expertise in the Indian Banking sector and experience working with Big4 consulting firms or comparable management consulting environments. The role will focus on functional/business consulting, digital transformation, business strategy, and client advisory across banking functions including Liabilities, Assets, Lending, and SME Banking. The ideal candidate should be a strong business problem-solver who can independently engage with senior client stakeholders, translate business challenges into actionable solutions, and lead consulting teams to deliver transformation programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Business & Functional Consulting:

• Lead functional consulting engagements forIndian Banks and Financial Institutions. • Understand client business challenges, operating models, processes, and strategic priorities. • Develop business solutions and recommendations acrossLiabilities, Assets, Lending, SME Banking, and related banking functions. • Translate complex business problems into structured, actionable solutions. • Drive decision-making and provide practical recommendations to senior client stakeholders.

  1. Digital Transformation:

• Lead non-technical digital transformationinitiatives for banking clients. • Define digital transformation strategy, business requirements, target operating models, and transformation roadmaps. • Identify opportunities for process transformation, customer experience improvement, operating-model optimisation, and digitisation. • Work closely with business and technology teams to ensure business objectives are translated effectively into transformation initiatives.

  1. Client Management & Business Development:

• Own day-to-day interaction with senior client stakeholders and conduct effectivebusiness conversations. • Build trusted relationships with business leaders and understand their strategic priorities. • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder discussions, requirement-gathering sessions, and executive presentations. • Support proposal development, solutioning, account growth, and identification of new consulting opportunities. • Demonstrate strong executive presence and the ability to influence client decision-making.

  1. Strategy & Advisory:

• Support/leadbusiness strategyengagements for banking clients. • Conduct market/business assessments, operating-model reviews, opportunity assessments, and strategic analyses. • Perform or supportdue diligenceactivities, including business assessment, process evaluation, market analysis, and identification of key risks/opportunities. • Develop business cases, strategic recommendations, and implementation roadmaps.

  1. Problem Solving & Solution Development:

• Independently structure ambiguous business problems and develop hypotheses and solutions. • Analyse business processes, performance metrics, customer journeys, and operating models. • Identify root causes and develop recommendations with measurable business impact. • Present findings and recommendations clearly to senior management.

  1. Team Leadership:

• Manage and mentorSenior Consultants, Consultants, and Analysts. • Lead consulting workstreams and ensure high-quality delivery within agreed timelines. • Review deliverables, provide coaching, and develop team capabilities. • Effectively manage multiple stakeholders and workstreams simultaneously.

Required Experience:

• 8 to 12+ years of relevant experience in Financial Services / Banking Consulting, depending on level. • Strong experience in the Indian Banking sector. • Prior experience with a Big4 consulting firm or a leading management/financial-services consulting organisation highly preferred. • Strong experience in functional/business consulting and digital transformation.

Experience across one or more of: • Liabilities • Assets • Lending • SME Banking • Experience in business strategy, operating-model transformation, due diligence, or advisory is highly desirable. • Demonstrated experience managing consulting teams and senior client stakeholders.

Educational Qualification:

• MBA / PGDM from a reputed institution preferred. • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline. • Relevant professional qualifications in Banking/Finance/Management would be an advantage.

What We Are Looking For:

The ideal candidate is a business-oriented Financial Services consultant, rather than a purely technical/IT professional. The candidate should understand how Indian Banks operate, be comfortable discussing business problems with senior stakeholders, and have the ability to shape strategy, solve problems, lead transformation initiatives, and manage consulting teams. Must have prior relevant experience in a leading Big4/ Big8/ Management Consulting firm.

Work mode: Hybrid model working Interview process: 2 to 3 rounds

Required Qualification: Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.)
