We’re a fintech building a merchant cash advance product for Sri Lankan SMEs, operating within one of the country’s largest payment networks. Because we can size an advance from a merchant’s daily card settlement and collect through that same settlement, we reach small businesses that traditional providers can’t. The product is live and scaling.

THE ROLE

This is a front-line ownership role — you’re the person on the other end of every conversation that matters to a merchant. You turn interested merchants into funded advances, and when a merchant’s daily holdback slips into shortfall, you engage early, keep the relationship intact, and get things back on track.

It’s our first dedicated hire on the merchant front line, reporting to the Head of Operations. The weight of the role is on keeping the book healthy through skilled, humane recovery. As we scale, you grow into leading the recovery function.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN

Book health & recovery (the core) — engage merchants in shortfall early, work deferred holdback back on track, firm but empathetic

Origination — take warm merchants through the offer and onboarding to a funded advance, and drive outreach yourself when the pipeline needs volume. On a small team you own the whole number - the skilled close and the graft that feeds it.

Servicing — be the merchant’s point of contact once they’re live; handle inbound and retain repeat merchants

Field intelligence — keep accurate records and feed what you learn back, so the whole operation gets smarter

WHO YOU ARE

Proven in collections, recovery, or receivables— you’ve held real money conversations and brought accounts back on track, with empathy and a spine

Also comfortable closing — consultative and credible, no high-pressure tactics

Numerate and organised — at home with figures, and you follow through

Fluent Sinhala essential; English and/or Tamil a strong advantage — our merchants span all three

Calm under pressure and a builder — you want to own and grow a function, and you’re energised by an early-stage environment
