A product design team in a fast-scaling tech environment in Tokyo is looking for a senior-level design leader to support the next phase of growth. The organization operates in a highly collaborative setting where engineering, product management, and human-centered design work closely together, with a strong focus on integrating generative AI into modern user experience patterns for complex enterprise software.

This role is responsible for leading the design of next-generation user experiences across advanced AI-driven product systems. Acting as a design lead, the individual will handle complex and ambiguous design problems, translating layered operational workflows into clear, efficient, and reliable interfaces. The position requires strong expertise in UX research, scalable design systems, and AI-assisted product thinking, with the ability to balance business priorities and user needs in high-impact, high-complexity environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Product Design Leadership: Serve as the Design Lead managing the end-to-end UI/UX architecture of major product modules and intelligent functional ecosystems.
• Next-Gen AI Interface Design: Conceptualize, prototype, and implement cutting-edge user interfaces focused on Generative AI interactions, advanced search visualization, and legal analytics.
• UX Research Execution: Plan and execute rigorous user research frameworks, conducting user interviews, structural data analysis, and usability testing to uncover deep corporate consumer challenges.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers (PMs) and Software Engineers to design UI solutions that honor tight technical parameters and balance enterprise business objectives.
• Design System Stewardship: Utilize, expand, and maintain corporate Figma design systems to ensure absolute structural consistency, ease of use, and scalability across multi-lingual platforms.
• Team Advocacy & Process Optimization: Evangelize the design team's strategic value through persuasive internal and external communication while leveraging AI tools to accelerate internal prototyping and design workflows.

Candidate Requirements:

• Japanese nationality or expatriate with fluent Japanese for daily communication, and professional fluency in English for collaboration with international stakeholders
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Business Management, or related creative fields
• Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience designing web services and B2B SaaS interfaces, with proven experience as a design lead or independent owner of complex product modules
• Experience in team leadership, product management exposure, localization for multilingual products, or building independent web-based products
• Strong expertise in Figma and scalable design systems, including responsive component architecture
• Practical experience applying generative AI in product workflows, including prompt prototyping or AI-driven interface design
• Experience working in iterative product development cycles, using post-launch data to drive rapid UX improvements
• Strong strategic thinking to simplify complex workflows into clear, usable interfaces under high uncertainty, with excellent communication skills to bridge technical teams and user needs
