We are looking for a highly driven and experienced Category Manager – Variety to lead and grow our variety product categories. In this role, you will develop winning category strategies, drive product innovation, strengthen vendor partnerships, and deliver strong sales and profitability outcomes. You will work closely with design, marketing, sales, and merchandising teams to ensure exceptional product execution and market relevance.
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Growth
Conduct market research to identify trends, customer preferences, and competitor insights.
Develop category strategies including assortment planning, pricing, and promotional roadmaps.
Identify opportunities for growth, product innovation, and category expansion.
Product Management
Collaborate with product development teams to create market‑relevant variety lines.
Manage full product lifecycle—from concept to launch.
Monitor product performance and optimize assortments through data-driven decisions.
Vendor & Supplier Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and negotiate favourable terms.
Conduct vendor performance evaluations and seek new supplier partnerships.
Sales & Inventory Management
Work alongside sales and demand planning to forecast sales and manage inventory levels.
Analyse sales and market data to identify growth opportunities.
Manage slow‑moving stock and optimise overall category performance.
Marketing & Promotions
Partner with marketing to develop effective campaigns and promotional activities.
Provide input on product positioning, pricing, and messaging.
Support e-commerce teams with product listings and online content optimisation.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.
Proven experience in category management, merchandising, or product management—preferably within variety retail.
Strong understanding of market trends and consumer behaviour.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and vendor management skills.
Effective communicator with strong cross‑functional collaboration abilities.
Highly organised, detail‑oriented, and skilled in project management.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with inventory and data analysis tools is an advantage.
