The Deputy Director of Business Development is responsible for leading strategic growth initiatives, driving client acquisition, and expanding the company’s project portfolio within the construction and related industries. This role plays a critical leadership function in identifying new business opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and securing high-value construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Business Growth
- Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with company growth targets.
- Identify and penetrate new markets (government, private sector, industrial, infrastructure).
- Lead project pipeline development from lead generation to contract signing.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments.
2. Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
- Drive new client acquisition, focusing on large-scale construction and infrastructure projects.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders (developers, government agencies, consultants, EPC partners).
- Lead commercial negotiations, tender participation, and contract discussions.
- Represent the company in industry forums, networking events, and strategic meetings.
3. Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor the Business Development team to achieve revenue and project targets.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Project Management, Estimation, Finance, and Legal teams.
- Establish performance KPIs and monitor team effectiveness.
- Strengthen internal coordination to ensure smooth tender and proposal processes.
4. Tender & Commercial Management
- Oversee bid management processes including pre-qualification, proposal preparation, and submission.
- Ensure competitive pricing strategies and risk assessments.
- Review contractual terms and mitigate commercial risks.
- Ensure alignment between client expectations and operational execution capabilities.
5. Stakeholder & Partnership Development
- Develop strategic alliances and joint ventures when required for large-scale projects.
- Maintain strong relationships with consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Support corporate branding and positioning within the construction industry.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field.
- Master’s degree (MBA or relevant postgraduate degree) is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 12–15 years of experience in Business Development, Commercial, or Project roles within: Construction Infrastructure EPC Property Development Engineering Consultancy
- Proven track record in client acquisition and securing major construction projects.
- Experience handling government and/or private sector tenders.
- Experience leading business development or commercial teams.

- Deep understanding of construction contracts (FIDIC, EPC, Lump Sum, etc.).
