Role Purpose:
The Manager – Human Resources is responsible for leading and delivering end-to-end HR management, ensuring the organization has the right people, systems, and culture to achieve business goals. The role is accountable for developing and implementing HR strategy, ensuring compliance with employment laws, strengthening performance and talent practices, and enabling leaders to build a high-performing workforce.
Job Responsibilities
1.Strategic Human Resource Management
- Partner with leadership to align workforce plans with business strategy.
- Develop and execute the annual HR plan (talent, culture, performance, engagement).
- Lead improvement of HR systems, policies, and practices, ensuring governance and scalability.
- Analyze HR metrics and trends (turnover, engagement, performance, productivity) and present insights to leadership
2.Operational HR Governance & Compliance
- Lead and ensure quality delivery of HR operations (compensation & benefits, leave, employee relations, grievances, disciplinary processes, HR documentation).
- Ensure full compliance with Sri Lankan employment regulations and internal policy requirements.
- Maintain updated HR policies aligned with best practices and organizational needs.
- Support annual budgeting and cost control related to HR operations.
3.Talent Development, Performance & Retention
- Maintain organizational structure aligned to business priorities and productivity.
- Ensure 100% role clarity: job descriptions and performance KPIs for all staff.
- Own and improve the performance management cycle (goal setting, reviews, calibration, continuous feedback).
- Strengthen pay-for-performance culture through fair, transparent performance and reward systems.
- Deliver Learning & Development strategy based on business skill gaps and appraisal feedback.
- Drive succession planning and identify high potential employees with development plans.
4.Employee Engagement & Culture
- Develop and execute an employee engagement strategy and calendar aligned with business priorities.
- Lead employee engagement survey administration and generate actionable insights.
- Partner with management team to implement engagement action plans and track progress.
- Promote employer branding initiatives internally and support HR communication across the organization.
5.Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead, coach, and develop HR team members and ensure clear role ownership.
- Conduct structured weekly/bi-weekly team check-ins and track deliverables.
- Implement individual development plans and career progression plans for team members.
- Provide ongoing performance feedback and support employee engagement initiatives.
6.Digitisation & Process Improvement
- Drive HR digitisation initiatives to improve efficiency, accuracy and employee experience.
- Improve HR workflows using HRIS tools (leave, attendance, performance, onboarding, HR documents).
- Ensure HR data integrity, documentation consistency, and proper access controls.
- Develop HR dashboards and metrics reporting to leadership (headcount, turnover, hiring, engagement, performance completion).
7.Oversee Administration & Operational Support
- Coordinate administration work with Operations (office facilities, equipment inventory including laptops and assets, connectivity and vendor coordination).
- Review departmental expenses and approve requests in line with policy and budget.
- Ensure transparent procurement practices (quotations, vendor selection justification and documentation).
- Ensure timely submission of accurate payment documentation to Finance.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strategic thinking with strong business orientation
- Strong knowledge of HR governance, employment law, compliance
- Capability in talent management, performance systems, and retention
- Strong communication, influencing, negotiation and stakeholder management
- Analytical and problem-solving ability (HR metrics, dashboards, decision-making)
- Strong leadership, team coaching and change management skills
- Proficiency in MS Office / HRIS systems
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or professional qualification in HRM
- MBA / Postgraduate qualification (preferred)
- Minimum 10 years overall HR experience, along with a 2-3 years managerial-level HR experience
