Our client is a foreign-owned charcoal factory, launched upon the 20+ years of extensive and reputable experience of its founding partners. The company operates a coconut shell charcoal briquette factory in Karanganyar, Solo, with its head office in Dubai, UAE.
The factory specializes in producing premium-grade charcoal briquettes, regarded as a work of art that combines the natural riches of Indonesia with the collective expertise of industry pioneers. Its factories focus on serving customers in both domestic distribution channels and international export markets. The company’s supply chain functions are critical in supporting the end-to-end production cycle, from vendor sourcing to final delivery.
Job Role:
The Supply Chain & Logistics Manager will be responsible for leading and optimizing all supply chain activities within the coconut shell charcoal briquette factory. This includes overseeing procurement of raw materials, vendor negotiations, inventory management, warehousing, and distribution processes to ensure seamless operations from production to delivery. The role requires both strategic planning and hands-on execution, balancing cost efficiency with operational reliability.
As the company’s products are primarily exported to international markets, the Supply Chain & Logistics Manager will play a critical role in managing export-import documentation, customs compliance, and global distribution logistics. This involves close coordination with shipping partners, regulatory authorities, and international customers to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective deliveries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement & Supplier Management
- Oversee procurement processes, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure timely deliveries of goods.
- Build and maintain good relationships with suppliers, logistics providers, freight forwarders, and shipping companies to secure best prices, quality materials, and delivery schedules.
- Oversee and manage supplier and vendor contracts, ensuring all terms, conditions, and performance metrics are met.
- Negotiate, review, renew, or terminate contracts based on performance and compliance with company standards.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of suppliers and vendors to evaluate performance, quality standards, delivery timeliness, and financial stability.
- Inventory & Warehouse Management
- Monitor inventory levels, track stock movement, and ensure optimal stock levels for production without over- or under-stocking.
- Oversee warehouse organization, efficiency, and safety compliance, ensuring optimal use of space and adherence to health and safety standards.
- Analyze and reduce lead times for raw materials (including packaging material) and finished goods to improve production and shipment schedules.
- Logistics & Export Operations
- Supervise and coordinate export processes, including bookings, documentation, customs declarations, and on-time shipments to overseas clients.
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulations for all export-import activities, supported with proper documentation.
- Align production schedules with material availability to optimize production flow and inventory costs.
- Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Manage and lead the logistics team, including export coordinators, warehouse staff, and inventory controllers.
- Set, track, and report on KPIs for the supply chain and logistics teams, ensuring targets are met.
- Develop team capabilities and foster a culture of accountability, efficiency, and compliance.
- Cost Control & Risk Management
- Track and control logistics and supply chain expenses to optimize costs for inventory, storage, and transportation while maintaining efficiency.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks within the supply chain, including supplier reliability, transportation disruptions, and market volatility.
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize risks and maintain supply chain continuity.
- Process Improvement & Innovation
- Identify and implement improvements in supply chain processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall operations.
- Introduce systems and best practices (e.g., ERP, WMS) to strengthen supply chain transparency and scalability.
Candidate Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Admin, or related. Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) certification is highly preferred. Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification is a plus.
- Experience:
- 5 years of experience in supply chain or logistics management within the manufacturing companies, with strong exposure in export or global logistics.
- Proven track record in managing the logistics team, including export coordinators, warehouse staff, and inventory controllers.
- Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in supply chain management software, and inventory tracking technologies.
- Solid knowledge of international shipping and customs regulations.
- Proven expertise in inventory management and warehouse operations.
- Experience in contract development and risk management.
- Demonstrated experience in forecasting and planning for Just-In-Time (JIT) inventory practices.
