Job Role
The Assistant Sales Manager – Ocean Freight will be responsible for developing and expanding the company’s sea freight customer base in Indonesia. The role focuses on developing business, supervising or supporting the sales team, maintaining strong relationships with clients & vendors, and staying on top of international freight forwarding market dynamics.
Key responsibilities include managing tenders, conducting rate negotiations, and preparing pricing simulations to ensure safe, efficient, and competitive logistics solutions. The role also acts as the main bridge between clients and internal teams, ensuring that sales commitments are translated into smooth operational execution.
By monitoring market trends, competitor activity, and customer insights, the Assistant Sales Manager will contribute to strategy development and revenue growth. This position also provides the opportunity to work closely with global carriers, co-loaders, vendors, and partners, reinforcing the company’s position as a trusted freight forwarding leader in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing, executing sales and marketing strategies aligned to ocean freight business goals.
- Support and/or supervise a sales team to meet targets.
- Identify potential clients; maintain strong market presence.
- Produce and deliver professional quotations, solutions, and manage customer relationships.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure operational execution.
- Track and report market trends, competitor behavior, and customer insights; feedback into strategy.
Candidate Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields.
- Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in Sales functions.
- 2+ years of sales in 3PL or ocean cargo / freight forwarding.
- Technical Expertise:
- Deep understanding of international freight forwarding & logistics.
- Proven track record in business development / sales success in ocean freight.
- Language Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin.
- Professional Qualities: Strong communication, negotiation, relationship building with vendors and partners.
