We specialise in flexible, micro-services based store and supporting solutions that are deployed in Department Stores, Food, Fashion, Hospitality, Stadiums, Luxury bands, Auto parts and General Merchandise. Our software products include POS, mobile POS, Card Payment, Order Management, Inventory Management and more. We sell and deliver these products under traditional licensing models as well as providing them through hosted services in AWS and Azure.

We offer a new, process-based development toolset as part of our application suite. Using the Enactor Toolkit business events and actions are understood and managed as processes across the enterprise and represented visually. Our smart design tools and reusable libraries of components mean that application development becomes a drag-and-drop exercise. The combination of the Toolkit and libraries within Enactor give retailers a unique ability to react and adapt their applications in a changing and highly competitive retail landscape.

We have main offices in Hertford in the UK, Colombo, Kandy & Galle in Sri Lanka and the USA.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to lead and mentor our talented IT team. In this pivotal role, you will not only provide advanced technical expertise but also guide the team in managing and enhancing our infrastructure. You will be responsible for overseeing our on-premises and cloud environments, acting as the final escalation point for complex technical issues, and driving the strategic direction of our infrastructure. This position is the perfect blend of hands-on technical leadership and people management, offering a unique opportunity to shape the future of our IT operations.

Key Responsibilities

· Team Leadership & Mentoring: Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentorship to infrastructure engineers. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing. Lead team meetings and oversee the professional development of your team members.

· Advanced Incident & Problem Management: Lead the resolution of complex incidents and act as the final point of escalation. Drive the problem management process to identify root causes and implement permanent solutions to prevent recurrence.

· Infrastructure Strategy & Design: Lead the design, planning, and implementation of new infrastructure projects. Evaluate emerging technologies and make strategic recommendations to enhance performance, security, and scalability.

· Proactive System Maintenance: Oversee and enhance our proactive system maintenance strategy. Ensure all infrastructure components, including servers, networks, and storage, are operating optimally and are regularly patched and updated.

· Data Protection & Recovery: Take ownership of the business continuity and disaster recovery strategy. Ensure our data backup solutions are robust, regularly tested, and capable of meeting recovery objectives (RTO/RPO).

· Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with key technology vendors and service providers. Communicate effectively with business stakeholders to align infrastructure projects with company goals.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

· Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience in IT Infrastructure & Systems Support.

· Proven experience in a team lead or senior capacity, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and train other engineers.

· Expert-level knowledge in implementing and managing both Windows Server (including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS) and Linux server environments.

· Deep experience managing and architecting solutions in cloud environments like AWS and Microsoft Azure.

· Authoritative knowledge of server virtualization platforms, particularly VMWare and Microsoft Hyper-V.

· Demonstrable experience leading the design and implementation of secure, resilient network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, VPNs).

· Expertise in managing and designing enterprise-grade cloud and on-premises backup and disaster recovery solutions.

· Strong understanding of DevOps principles and familiarity with tools such as Docker and Jenkins.

· A strategic thinker with outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy.

· BSc/ BA in computer science or equivalent preferred.

  • Professional certifications (e.g., MCSE, VCP, AWS/Azure Certified).
  • Experience with ITIL, ISO 27001, and PCI DSS frameworks in a leadership context.
