You will work directly with the founder and the artists to open doors, close deals, and grow revenue streams across performances, brand deals, sponsorships, content production, and more.

Role Summary
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue across all of Outright Play’s business streams. From live shows to sponsorships, from brand deals to content production, every opportunity must be identified, pursued, and converted into results.
This role is not about “trying.” It is about delivering business from the very first day. We are looking for someone with proven experience, strong networks, and the ability to close deals quickly.
You will:
● Secure bookings for concerts, corporate shows, weddings, and tours.
● Bring in sponsorships for events, music videos, and branded content.
● Sign brand ambassadorships and endorsement deals for artists.
● Deliver influencer campaigns and digital activations with our artists.
● Build new business opportunities in content production, music for brands, jingles, films, licensing, and sync.
This is a senior role with high accountability. Success is measured only by results — the business you bring in, the deals you close, and the revenue you generate.
You will work directly with the founder and artists, turning creative talent into commercial opportunity. In a small, ambitious team, this role is the engine that powers growth.
Scope of Work: Revenue Channels
The Business Development Manager is responsible for generating revenue across all of Outright Play’s commercial activities. Each area is a business in itself, and together they form the growth engine of the company.
1. Live Performances & Touring
● Secure bookings for concerts (metro, rural, festivals, tours – local and overseas).
● Drive corporate entertainment deals (product launches, gala dinners, awards nights).
● Close contracts for weddings and private events.
● Expand into new markets and repeat bookings with promoters and event producers.
2. Sponsorships & Partnerships
● Sell sponsorships for concerts, tours, and festivals.
● Package and close sponsorship deals for music videos, branded content, and digital activations.
● Develop relationships with FMCG, telecom, fashion, and lifestyle brands.
3. Brand Ambassadorships & Endorsements
● Sign artists as long-term ambassadors for local and international brands.
● Negotiate endorsement campaigns across TV, digital, and print.
● Develop limited-edition brand collaborations with artists.
4. Influencer & Digital Campaigns
● Bring in influencer marketing campaigns featuring Outright Play artists.
● Close deals for artist-led TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube campaigns.
● Secure paid digital activations and cross-platform collaborations.
5. Music Production Services
● Pitch and close deals for jingles, custom songs, and brand anthems.
● Offer full-service music production (lyrics, composition, arrangement, recording).
● Expand production services to agencies, corporates, and independent artists.
6. Film & TV Music Production
● Secure contracts for film and television soundtracks.
● Pitch Outright Play for theme songs, title tracks, and background scores.
● License catalog music for films, series, and commercials.
7. Content Production & Media Services
● Sell music video production packages for artists and brands.
● Close contracts for commercial video content, documentaries, and BTS projects.
● Pitch social media content strategy and execution for external clients.
8. Licensing & Publishing
● Monetize music catalog through sync deals for ads, games, film, and TV.
● Expand international publishing partnerships.
● Manage royalties collection across markets.
9. Merchandise & Consumer Products
● Drive sales of artist-branded merchandise.
● Expand Outright Play’s streetwear label (The Licenced).
● Package and sell tour-specific or event-exclusive merchandise.
10. Workshops & Education
● Create artist-led workshops (songwriting, performing, branding).
● Package corporate workshops using music as a creativity and leadership tool.
● Develop paid mentorship and incubator programs for emerging talent.
11. Advisory & Services
● Offer legal advisory (contracts, rights, intellectual property) to external clients.
● Sell distribution services for music on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
● Provide PR and media services to artists or brands.
12. International Collaborations
● Secure cross-border artist collaborations.
● Partner with global promoters for tours and events.
● Pitch Sri Lankan talent to international markets.
Key Responsibilities
As Business Development Manager, you will own the commercial growth of Outright Play across multiple revenue streams. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Pipeline Development
● Identify, research, and qualify potential clients across events, brands, agencies, and promoters.
● Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline for all revenue channels (performances, sponsorships, partnerships, content, production).
● Continuously explore new opportunities for monetization.
2. Pitching & Proposals
● Create compelling proposals for concerts, sponsorships, brand deals, and production services.
● Customize pitches for different clients and industries.
● Represent Outright Play in meetings with corporates, agencies, and promoters.
3. Closing Deals
● Negotiate contracts and secure bookings, sponsorships, and partnerships.
● Ensure terms are favorable, transparent, and profitable.
● Deliver results from the first month — this role is measured on business brought in.
4. Client Relationship Management
● Build long-term relationships with corporate clients, agencies, and promoters.
● Maintain strong communication before, during, and after each deal.
● Secure repeat business and upsell additional opportunities.
5. Cross-Team Collaboration
● Work with artists, managers, and the creative team to align business opportunities with brand identity.
● Coordinate with production teams to ensure deliverables meet client expectations.
● Collaborate with marketing to package and promote offerings.
6. Reporting & Accountability
● Track sales pipeline, deals closed, and revenue generated.
● Provide weekly and monthly performance reports to management.
● Use data to refine strategies and improve results.
7. Market Development
● Expand Outright Play into new geographies and industries.
● Explore international collaborations and global brand partnerships.
● Stay informed on industry trends and bring in fresh opportunities.
Required Skills & Qualities
This is a senior role that demands experience, proven ability, and results from day one.
Experience
● 5+ years in business development, sales, or partnerships in entertainment, media, advertising, or brand management.
● Proven track record of closing deals and generating revenue.
● Existing network of corporate clients, agencies, sponsors, and promoters.
● Experience negotiating contracts and managing client relationships at a senior level.
Core Skills
● Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify and monetize opportunities.
● Excellent negotiation and closing skills — able to secure deals quickly and effectively.
● Ability to build and manage a strong sales pipeline across multiple revenue streams.
● Exceptional communication and presentation skills in English (Sinhala/Tamil is a plus).
● Strong organizational skills — able to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines in parallel.
