Role Description :The Quality Engineering (QE) Manager is a leader responsible for driving quality excellence across SwivelTech’s project portfolio, spanning web, mobile, internal products, and AI-driven solutions. This role manages a multi-disciplinary QE team, owns the implementation of quality strategies, leads production defect triage, and champions the adoption of automation, AI, and secure testing practices. The QE Manager acts as the primary stakeholder for quality across all delivery streams and collaborates closely with engineering, product, and client-facing teams to ensure delivery confidence and technical excellence.

Responsibilities:

· Portfolio Ownership & Strategic Leadership:

  • Own the end-to-end quality assurance for SwivelTech’s project portfolio, including web platforms, mobile applications, proprietary products, and AI solutions.
  • Serve as the key stakeholder for Quality Engineering, representing quality in project planning, client discussions, and leadership reviews.
  • Proactively assess and uplift quality practices across varying delivery models (staff augmentation, product builds, agile squads).

· Team Leadership & Development:

  • Manage a minimum of 20 QE professionals across different specializations (manual QA, automation, performance, security, mobile).
  • Establish high-performance expectations, mentor team members, and support skill progression across career tracks.
  • Drive collaboration, accountability, and ownership within the team.

· Quality Strategy & Execution:

  • Develop and implement test strategies covering manual testing, UI/API automation, performance, security, and device/browser compatibility.
  • Ensure testing approaches are aligned with agile delivery and CI/CD workflows.
  • Lead initiatives to adopt AI-enabled quality tools and improve test intelligence, auto-remediation, and test prioritization.

· Process, Metrics & Governance:

  • Define and track KPIs such as defect leakage rate, test coverage, incident turnaround time, and automation ROI.
  • ·Partner with the VP of Engineering to institutionalize scalable QE practices and report portfolio-wide metrics weekly.
  • Lead triage and root cause analysis of production issues; implement preventative measures.

· Collaboration & Communication:

  • Partner with product managers, tech leads, engineering managers, and client stakeholders to embed quality early.
  • Represent QE in sprint planning, release reviews, and roadmap alignment sessions.
  • Translate technical QA outcomes into business-relevant impact reporting.

· Client & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Provide consultation to clients (technical and non-technical) on QA strategy, risk mitigation, and quality forecasting.
  • Participate in client meetings, delivery checkpoints, and onboarding sessions as the voice of quality.
  • Ensure quality assurance expectations are clearly defined and delivered in all client-facing projects.

· Tools, Automation & AI:

  • Lead tool selection and frameworks for UI/API automation, cross-browser/device testing, performance benchmarking, and security scanning.
  • Drive the adoption of AI-powered testing tools (e.g., test case generation, visual regression, auto-healing tests).
  • Ensure CI/CD pipelines include scalable test coverage for fast feedback and high-confidence releases.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in software quality engineering, including:
  • Leadership of 20+ QE professionals across automation, manual, performance, and security testing.
  • Deep experience in manual testing, UI automation, API testing, device/browser compatibility, performance and security testing.
  • Hands-on production defect triage and root cause analysis experience.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman, JMeter, OWASP ZAP, and AI-enhanced testing platforms.
  • Familiarity with industry security standards (OWASP, ISO 27001).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional alignment capabilities.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience managing QE across web, mobile, and AI-based product portfolios.
  • Exposure to DevSecOps practices and secure SDLC.
  • Certifications (ISTQB, CSTE, security certifications such as CISSP/OSCP).
  • Experience in customer-facing consulting or QA in a professional services or product-led environment.
