Right-Hand Cybersecurity
Full-time
Anywhere, WorldwideCompany Description
Right-Hand Cybersecurity is building the next generation of Human Risk Management. We help enterprises understand and reduce workforce-related cybersecurity risk through intelligent security awareness, phishing simulations, AI-powered agents, behavioral insights, and risk analytics. We are a lean, product-driven team building for complex enterprise environments. Engineers work closely with product, design, customers, and company leadership—and have meaningful influence over what we build and how we build it.
The daily fulfillment of this mission would not be possible without the cornerstone of Right-Hand’s business - its people. We firmly believe that if we take care of our employees, they will take care of our customers, and the rest will work itself out. The founding team at Right-Hand has created a culture that evangelises six core values:
Resilience: We solve problems and overcome challenges to the best of our ability, regardless of how daunting they may appear.
Empathy: We listen to and understand the perspective of others, including our peers, customers, partners and investors.
Passion: We care deeply about our work, our customers, each other and this company.
Accountability: We trust each other to get our job done at a high level.
Transparency: We act and communicate openly, honestly, and effectively to drive toward positive outcomes.
Authenticity: We understand who we are and will surround ourselves with a diverse group of people who complement our skillset and share our values.
If you want to join this mission-driven team and believe you fit the profile below, let’s talk!
About the role
We are looking for a Product Engineer—not simply someone who can work across the frontend and backend.
You will take meaningful customer problems from early discovery through technical design, implementation, production release, and iteration. You should be equally comfortable clarifying an ambiguous requirement, challenging a product decision, designing a scalable architecture, building the experience, and reviewing its performance after launch.
You will use AI to increase your speed and effectiveness, but you will remain accountable for the quality, security, and correctness of everything you ship.
What you will do
• Own features from ideation through production, including discovery, prototyping, architecture, implementation, testing, release, and iteration..
• Work directly with product, design, customers, and leadership to understand problems before choosing solutions..
• Turn loosely defined ideas into clear product and technical plans..
• Build polished customer-facing experiences across the frontend and backend..
• Design reliable APIs, data models, services, integrations, and reusable product foundations..
• Use AI development tools to accelerate research, prototyping, implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation..
• Build AI-powered product capabilities using model APIs, agents, retrieval, structured outputs, and evaluation workflows where appropriate..
• Evaluate AI-generated work critically rather than treating generated code as inherently correct..
• Make thoughtful trade-offs across customer value, delivery speed, maintainability, security, performance, and cost..
• Monitor features after release, learn from production behavior and customer feedback, and improve them..
• Raise the engineering bar through pragmatic standards, code reviews, documentation, testing, and architectural guidance..
• Contribute outside rigid role boundaries when that is what delivering the right customer outcome requires..
What we are looking for
• Approximately 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent evidence of exceptional product-building ability..
• A track record of independently delivering meaningful customer-facing features or products from idea to production..
• Strong fundamentals in system design, data modeling, API design, databases, testing, security, performance, and distributed systems..
• Experience building across modern frontend and backend systems..
• Strong product judgment and genuine care for usability, simplicity, speed, and polish..
• Ability to understand the customer and business context—not just the technical specification..
• Comfort working with ambiguity, questioning assumptions, and proposing a better path..
• Experience making architectural decisions that balance immediate delivery with long-term maintainability..
• Strong written and verbal communication in a remote, collaborative environment..
• High ownership: you identify gaps, follow through, and remain accountable after deployment..
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools as part of your daily engineering workflow..
• Ability to verify AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, and alignment with the existing system..
Our technology
Our current environment includes:
• React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Ruby on Rails.
• Python and Node.js services.
• PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, and Sidekiq.
• AWS, ECS/Fargate, S3, CloudFront, SQS, and Lambda.
• APIs and integrations with enterprise security and collaboration platforms.
• Large language models, voice AI, and generative AI services.
You do not need experience with every technology in our stack. We care more about strong fundamentals, learning speed, and evidence that you can deliver across unfamiliar systems.
What “AI-native” means to us
Being AI-native does not mean copying generated code into production.
It means knowing how to use AI to explore a codebase, test assumptions, prototype quickly, compare solutions, automate repetitive work, improve test coverage, and shorten the path from problem to validated outcome.
It also means knowing when AI is wrong—and having the engineering fundamentals to catch it.
You may be an especially strong fit if
• You have been an early engineer, technical founder, or product-minded engineer in a fast-moving startup..
• You have built a product or substantial feature from zero to one..
• You can show products, open-source work, experiments, or side projects that demonstrate curiosity and initiative..
• You have experience with enterprise SaaS, cybersecurity, analytics, workflow automation, or AI-powered products..
• You have worked directly with customers to discover problems and validate solutions..
• You naturally move between product thinking, user experience, architecture, and implementation..
This role may not be the right fit if
• You prefer receiving fully defined tickets before beginning work..
• You want to work exclusively on either frontend or backend systems..
• You measure success primarily by code volume or tickets completed..
• You use AI-generated output without independently validating it..
• You prefer optimizing technical elegance without considering customer or business outcomes..
What success looks like
Within your first few months, you will:
• Develop a strong understanding of our customers, architecture, and product direction..
• Independently own and ship a meaningful customer-facing improvement..
• Demonstrate that you can turn ambiguity into a clear, practical execution plan..
• Improve at least one part of our engineering or product-development workflow..
• Become a trusted partner in product and architectural decisions..
How we evaluate candidates
Our interview process focuses on evidence of how you think and deliver:
- A conversation about your experience, motivations, and the products you have built..
- A product and technical deep dive into a feature you personally owned..
- A practical, scoped problem-solving exercise using the tools you would normally use—including AI..
- A discussion of architecture, trade-offs, security, and production ownership..
- A final conversation focused on collaboration, judgment, and mutual fit..
We care less about memorized algorithms and more about your ability to understand a real problem, make sound decisions, and deliver a high-quality outcome.
