We are looking for Associate Lead Backend Infrastructure Engineers. You’ll be a core part of building and scaling SpatialChat’s backend systems and infrastructure. This role requires deep expertise in backend architecture, infrastructure, and DevOps to ensure smooth, reliable, and high-performance virtual interactions. You’ll collaborate closely with the founding team, taking ownership of the backend infrastructure and building systems that support high-volume multimedia streaming and user interactions.

Prerequisites

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 5+ years of backend infrastructure experience with expertise in C++, SQL, and DevOps.
• Strong proficiency in C++ for high-performance backend development.
• Extensive experience with SQL and database management for data flow and retrieval optimization.
• DevOps experience with proficiency in CI/CD, Docker, and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Cloud platform expertise (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and experience deploying scalable, reliable infrastructure.
• Experience in high-availability, distributed systems that handle large concurrent connections.
• Startup mentality with the ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable in handling complex issues in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Backend Ownership: Design, build, and maintain core backend infrastructure, optimizing it for scalability, security, and performance.
• Infrastructure Development: Develop load balancing, monitoring, and data management systems that support thousands of concurrent users.
• Performance & Reliability: Architect and implement solutions for low latency, high availability, and smooth video/audio streaming.
• Database Optimization: Utilize SQL and NoSQL databases for efficient data storage and retrieval, supporting large-scale interactive platforms.
• DevOps & Automation: Establish CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and alerting systems to streamline production deployments and operations.
• Problem-Solving in a Startup Environment: Address challenges related to building robust infrastructure capable of scaling with rapid platform growth.

Preferred Skills:

• Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g.,Terraform, Ansible).
• Knowledge of Microservices, SOA, and Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) for distributed systems.
• SRE mindset: Automation and operational efficiency
• Familiarity with monitoring/logging systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack) for infrastructure optimization.
