AutoCAD Draughtsman

Location: Parkland Building, Colombo 2, Sri Lanka Business Unit/Site: NTG Shared Services – North Kiteboarding Reporting to: Project Engineer – Sri Lanka Direct Reports: Team Lead – NAG at the NTG Shared Services Centre & Product Engineer Key Working Relationships: Product Development Team in New Zealand

Role Summary:

The North Technology Group (NTG), originating in 1957 with North Sails, is a diverse family of companies serving marine and manufacturing markets worldwide. NTG Shared Service Centre supports these businesses by developing and delivering innovative marine technology products and services. We are looking for a young and dynamic individual to join our Sri Lankan Shared Service Centre as an AutoCAD Draughtsman.

Role Description:

  • Prepare and review detailed drawings using knowledge of composites, engineering practices, and mathematics.
  • Apply company design guidelines and standards.
  • Produce custom changes for size-specific drawing sets from existing master drawings to meet product development and graphic team requests.
  • Provide additional relevant production documentation as required.
  • Aid in the development of new master drawing database production documents.
  • Review drawings for compliance with production documents, note any differences, and revise documents as needed.
  • Revise existing production drawings.
  • Document weekly work schedule.
  • Review marketing collateral for accuracy and completeness versus engineering plans.
  • Assist with special projects as requested and perform additional duties as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical qualification related to Mechanical Engineering/Design/Draughtsman.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a draughtsman/technical role focused on production drawings.
  • Ability to read and create CAD and engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD (required), MS Excel, and SolidWorks (preferred).
  • Understanding of composite construction methods and techniques.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and flexible to adjust to changing workload volumes.
  • Driven to achieve results, work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and see tasks through to completion.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships internally and externally.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Highly motivated, positive, and proactive problem solver.
  • Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in the Kite Surfing or textile industry is preferred.
  • Ability to kitesurf or wing-foil/willingness to learn is desirable.
