Description

The Senior DevOps Engineer reports to the Senior Cloud Architect and works as part of a product team to implement new requirements & enhance existing Cloud & DevOps practices such as CI/CD, Cloud Infrastructure Automations (IaC) and Logging & Monitoring (Observability) related requirements for Cloud-native platform that hosts our cloud applications. They work with the Cloud Architecture and Application Support teams to facilitate routine product lifecycle operations, as well as monitor and diagnose issues with our cloud applications. DevOps Engineers work in a continuous improvement framework to implement new processes as well as to maximize the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our Appsian cloud offerings.

The Senior DevOps Engineer will draw from their background in Cloud-scale infrastructure management, microservices delivery processes, cloud-native tools, virtual infrastructure management, configuration management, DevOps, and Security best practices to develop, monitor and support our cloud deployments. They will be strongly customer service oriented to assist customers and application support reps with infrastructure related issues. DevOps Engineers use strong problem-solving skills to understand platform issues and resolve or escalate them as required.

Key Responsibilities

· Dockerizing/Containerizing both Linux/Windows based applications

· Optimizing docker images and resolving vulnerabilities issues detected in security scan

· Helming Kubernetes based applications and its release management across environments such as Dev/Staging/Prod

· Implement End-to-end Cloud-native based CI/CD pipelines with focus on automation & security(DevSecOps)

· Automate Cloud Infrastructure using Terraform and its release management across environments such as Dev/Staging/Prod using CI/CD pipelines

· Implement fine-grained access controls at Cloud Infrastructure & Kubernetes Infrastructure level.

· Implement logging, monitoring and alerting using Prometheus, Grafana, Loki & Promtail in Kubernetes Cluster

· Create production ready Grafana dashboards and Implement Alerting on select logs & metrices related to Kubernetes & Cloud Infrastructure resources.

· Actively providing feedback on new support features requirement and implementing those features alongside Cloud Architecture team.

Education and Training

5+ years relevant work experience aligning with position requirements and ability to demonstrate knowledge with focus on automation & security. Of which at least required years of hands-on experience on tools and technologies below.

Required Knowledge and Expertise

The role will require some experience in the following areas:

· 2+ years of Docker/ContainerD, CI/CD pipelines creation experience using tools like Jenkins/Bamboo/GitLab/CircleCI

· At least year of working experience on production grade Kubernetes Cluster, its resource management & operations with hands on implementation of advance use cases related to Storage, Networking and K8s Security for enterprise scale applications.

· 2+ years of experience on Cloud Infrastructure automation experience with tools like Terraform/CloudFormation/Pulumi ...etc.

· At least a year of experience on any Observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Promtail, ELK, Splunk ...etc.

· 3+ years of extensive experience working on any Cloud Service Providers but at least 1 year of experience on AWS with or similar services like EC2, VPC, EBC, ELB’s, EKS, RDS, IAM, S3, Route53 … etc.

· Programming or scripting experience (using shell, PowerShell, python), development background would be an added advantage

· Microservice-based product delivery practice

· Exposure to Linux or Windows administration tasks

· Implementation of CI/CD using AzureDevOps or SpinnakerCD/Tekton/ArgoCD for Kubernetes deployments

· Database Management tasks like backup and restore on AWS RDS.

· File/Block based storage operations management e.g., EBS Volume Snapshot, Restore...etc.
